Stop meddling in Cross River APC affairs - APC chieftain tells Ameachi Stop meddling in Cross River APC affairs - APC chieftain tells Ameachi

- A member of the presidential committee on constitution and electoral reforms accuses Rotimi Amaechi of imposing leaders on the APC in Cross River state

- Utum Eteng calls on Amaechi to concentrate on the politics of Rivers state

- The APC chieftain says the serial defeat the APC has suffered at every election in Rivers state should give Amaechi enough challenge to be worried about
A member of the presidential committee on constitution and electoral reforms has warned former governor of Rivers state and minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, to stay off the affairs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River state.

Utum Eteng, who is a chieftain of the APC in Cross River, accused the minister of imposing leaders on the APC in Cross River, which he said, had caused divisions and problems in the party.
According to Tribune, the APC chieftain in a statement on Monday, March 6, called on Amaechi to concentrate on the politics of Rivers state and stop meddling in the internal matters of the APC in Cross River.

He said Amaechi is not from Cross River state so he should stop imposing leaders on the APC in the state.

Part of Eteng’s statement read: "One would have passed Amaechi’s alleged interference with the APC in Cross River as mere speculations but one is reluctant to hold otherwise by reason of Amaechi’s alleged recent attempt at a meeting he summoned in his house in Abuja with selected Cross Riverians and Ex-Governor Adams Oshiomole in attendance.”

“Apart from the going which is real. It is still yet to be known whether or not some party leaders in Abuja do not use the name of Amaechi for their selfish gains. It is yet to be known why armed soldiers and policemen were released to intimidate party members at Ikom during an APC Central Senatorial district meeting convened by Cletus Obun on Sunday 28thFebruary, 2017.

“The unannounced agenda was whether or not the state APC Chairman should complete the 4 years term of Pastor Usani Usani before he was appointed minister should come from the district without reaching a decision, it soon became clear that the use of Amaechi’ name to favor one Etim John did not persuade party members. Soldiers and armed policemen were brought into the venue.

“If indeed the allegations that Amaechi’s pre-occupation is to interfere with the APC in Cross River State, the mind boggling question is- what is Amaechi’s real interest in Cross River after his prior over-indulgence in Cross River APC resulted in the sorry state of the party in Cross River over the years."

He said the serial defeat the APC had suffered at every election in Rivers state should give Amaechi enough challenge to be worried about.

He said, he had written to the national chairman of the party, Odiegun Oyegun and other top leaders of the party at the national level to investigate Amaechi’s alleged involvement in APC state matters.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday, March 5 called Nigeria again to commiserate with former military head of state General Yakubu Gowon (rtd) over the passing away of his younger sister Kande Martha Audu.

Presidential spokesman Femi Adesina confirmed this in a statement on Monday, March 6 afternoon.

He said: "The President, who called from London, extended his deepest condolences to General Gowon and his family, urging them to take solace in the fact that Mrs. Audu lived a worthy and exemplary life."

Okeke who delivered judgment in a suit filed by Okutepa against the PDP, said Okutepa deserved to be paid the money for handling the cases for the party.  “The defendant is directed to pay the claimant N180 million being the earned professional fee for defending and prosecuting their cases listed out in the applicant’s statements of claims.’’ The court also ordered PDP to pay N50,000 to Mr Okutepa, a senior advocate of Nigeria, for successfully handling the cases. The judge held that it was not right for the PDP not to pay for the work they knew was well handled by the plaintiff. ''Shutting down 3 pharmaceutical companies will affect our economy and render thousands jobless'' - Concerned Nigerians group

Read the press statement by Concerned Nigerians below... The Shutdown of three major Pharmaceutical Companies, Emzor, Bioraj and Peace Standard Pharmaceuticals by National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control over Codein production is another testament that the current administration is clueless and wants more Nigerians out of Job. This hasty decision of shutting down all Production lines of these Pharmaceuticals over alleged production of Codein syrup is one done in bad faith. We are concerned about thousands of Jobs and revenue that will be lost as a result of this ill-conceived decision to shutdown the three largest pharmaceutical companies in the Country. You would recall that the National Bureau of Statistics had in its report stated that the number of Nigerians that became unemployed rose under  the current administration from 8,036million in 2015 Fourth quarter to 15.998 million in third quarter of 2017. It will be c...
