Prominent Nigerian politician in Anambra state, Governor Willie Obiano, was reported to be sharing ‘political bread’ to citizens of his state ahead of the 2017, gubernatorial election. The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), candidate has been tipped for a second term in office for transforming the state. However, a picture of him could be seen on the bread nylon with the logo of his party. Sharing of food materials in the heat of the election to cajole the electorate is an endemic nature of politicians in Nigeria. Materials like rice, bread, Bean-cake (Akara) as well as money are circulated to bamboozle voters for their benefits.

Reports filtering-in from Argentina have it that Geronimo Rojo, a cousin to Manchester United star Marcos Rojo, has been shot dead after trying to rob an ex-police officer. The Sun (UK) reports that the duo were said to have targeted 50-year-old Raul Anibal at about 10pm on Sunday night, March 5, from a getaway motorbike outside a bank cash machine. The tragic incident was said to have occurred in Marcos Rojo’s home town of La Plata, which is just an hour drive from an Argentinian capital Buenos Aires. - The Senate has revealed that the NNPC failed to account for N5.2 trillion spent on subsidy for importation of petroleum products from 2006 to 2016 - The upper legislative chamber said it would set up its whistle blower platform to enable it gets information on corrupt practices in the oil sector - The Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Downstream, Kabiru Marafa, the committee had also established the disappearance of 100 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit worth N14 billion The Senate has vowed that it would start a fresh fuel subsidy probe on the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and Independent Marketers over alleged irregularities in the subsidy fund. Mr Marafa noted that the NNPC has failed to justify to satisfaction the near N5.2 trillion spent on subsidy for importation of petroleum products from 2006 to 2016.
