The Niger, Kwara, Kogi Command of the Nigeria Customs has intercepted an Onitsha bound truck load of 200,000 live ammunition being brought into the country from Benin Republic. The Nation reports that two suspects who were identified as the driver, Bukari Dauda and the owner of the cartridges, Martin Anokwara, were apprehended along the Wawa – Babana border in Niger state in a Iveco Truck with Lagos registration number AKD 904 XE Parading the suspects, the Command Controller, Comptroller Benjamin Binga said that his men intercepted the truck which entered the country through the Babana border at about 3 a.m on Monday morning. He said that the truck was disguised to be carrying over 100 empty gericans but on thorough checking, it was discovered that the truck had a false bottom which was used to hide the cartridges. “The checking was not from tip off, it was just out of sheer curiosity that my men decided to do a thorough checking and discovere...

Hollywood actor and director, George Clooney was rushed to a hospital after his motorbike collided with a car in Sardinia. According to local reports, the 57-year-old star was on his way to a film set on the Italian island when a Mercedes car struck him. Sardinian newspaper Nuova Sardegna claimed it happened as the car was turning and collided with Clooney's bike. "George Clooney at the hospital: with his bike he ended up against a car that was turning," the post read when translated from Italian to English. His wife,  Amal reportedly visited him at Saint John II hospital where he was found to be suffering slight trauma to his pelvis and bruising to his knee and arm. He has since been discharged. The double Oscar winner had recently relocated his family to the Mediterranean for the summer, where he's directing and producing a TV mini-series, Catch 22.

President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa will arrive Nigeria today on a two day working visit. During the visit the President will meet with his counterpart, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari and also participate in the 2018 Annual Meeting and 25th Anniversary Celebrations of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank). While in Nigeria, it is expected that the two Presidents will discuss a wide range of bilateral, continental and global issues of common concern. Peace, stability and continental integration will feature prominently in their discussions. Formal relations between South Africa and Nigeria have been conducted through the Bi-National Commission (BNC), established in 1999 as a structured bilateral mechanism to promote political, economic, social, cultural, scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries.

The body of a young boy found yesterday hanging from an uncompleted building in Cross River state has left people horrified. The body was found in a building at Adiabo Ikot Mbo, Cross River State. According to reports, the dangling body was discovered by neighbours who then raised alarm. It is suspected he committed suicide but some have also pointed out the possibility that it could be a murder which is being covered up as suicide. An investigation has reportedly commenced into his death.

Mr. James Maina Mwangi from Nairobi, Kenya describes himself as the most stylish and smartest man in Africa because of his dress style. In an interview with BBC Africa, he said he has about 160 suits, more than 300caps and over 200 pairs of shoes among many others. Whenever he goes out, he steps out in matching outfits. Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose issued a sit-at-home' order today saying, 'I urge our people to remain indoors for their safety as thugs have invaded the State from Kogi, Ondo and Edo States for the APC campaign rally'. According to reports, the state is currently tense and under heavy security ahead of this weekend's governorship election in the state.

Ngozi Braide, a former Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer was reportedly robbed her driver; one Mr. Philip Jonathan who burgled her bedroom, carted away her belongings, foreign currency worth about N10m and escaped in Lagos. According to reports, the incident happened at her home in the Maryland of Lagos where she lived with her family. It was gathered that Jonathan, 38, targeted Braide when she was not around. He then broke into her room, stole those items and escaped. He was alleged to have taken away cash of three thousand Dollars valued at N1.1m, 2 gold chains worth N2.8m, diamond ring worth N3.6m and other valuables put in total at about N10m. The theft was reported to the operatives of FSARS who trailed Jonathan and arrested him. The police did not disclose if they recovered the items after the suspect was arrested but he was charged before Ikeja Magistrates court for conspiracy and stealing. He pleaded not guilty....
