 Kidnappers of Edo APC chairman demands N20m ransom


Kidnappers of the chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State have reportedly demanded a N20 million ransom.
Henry Ashofor was kidnapped by last Saturday near Aiyetoro along the Igarra- Ibillo road on his way from Igarra where he had attended a burial ceremony with other politicians.
The abductors were said to have called his wife Sunday evening, demanding N20 million which, sources said family members wanted reduced to N600,000.
The Secretary to the Otaru of Igarra, Folorunsho Dania, called on the federal government to come to the aid of the local government as activities of hoodlums had become worrisome.
“Deacon Ashofor was kidnapped on Saturday on the same route where they carry out their crimes. Just last week, a retired principal was kidnapped on the same route. Few months ago, two retired matrons from the General Hospital were kidnapped in Igarra. We have not even recovered from the robbery that killed several lives”, he said.

Saraki sends warning to ministers as 2018 Budget passes 2nd reading

The 2018 Appropriation Bill has passed second reading at the 8th Senate. The Bill has been forwarded to the Committee on Appropriations and its various sub-committees for further consideration and budget defence by the various ministries, departments and agencies of the Federal Government. Committee Chairmen and Members should please ensure that we keep to this timetable. “Let me respond with a general note of warning to all Heads of MDAs to ensure that they strictly respect the letters of invitation and the timetable.
