President Buhari condoles with Afenifere leader, Pa Fasoranti on his daughter's death. She was killed by armed robbers

President Buhari has commiserated with the leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, on the death of his daughter, Mrs Funke Olakunrin. In a statement by the president's media aide, Femi Adesina, ' the deceased was reportedly shot Friday along the Kajola-Ore road, in Ondo State, by those the police described as armed robbers'. The President prayed that God will comfort Pa Fasoranti, and give him the fortitude to bear the grievous loss. Prosecutors narrate how husband killed Nigerian artiste Alizee and poisoned their daughter as court remands him in custody

A Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos on Wednesday remanded a Danish national, Peter Nielsen, who was suspected of killing his wife, Zainab Ali- Nielsen and their three-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Petra. Chief Magistrate Kikelomo Ayeye remanded Nielsen, 53, in Ikoyi Prison, following an application by the police. Nielsen was docked on a two-count charge of unlawful killing. Nielsen’s plea was not taken. He was represented by Frank Udoka Amah. Prosecuting counsel, Effiong Asuquo, tendered a three-page application, containing 15 grounds for Nielsen’s remand in prison. He said: “There is overwhelming forensic evidence linking the defendant to the assault and murder of his wife and daughter. Investigation has also shown that the defendant was habitually violent to his late wife, Zainab.” According to Asuquo, a fight broke out between the couple in their flat at about 3:00 a.m. on that fateful day. Court stops sack of over 20,000 teachers that failed the competency test in Kaduna

The Kaduna Division of the National Industrial Court today issued an order stopping the state government from going further with the plan to sack 21,780 primary school teachers that failed a competency test organised by the state government. Recall that in June, the state government organized a competency test for primary school teachers in the state. Sadly, over 21, 000 of the teachers failed the primary 4 set of questions given to them. Some of the scripts released by the state government showed that many of the teachers supplied ridiculous answers to basic questions they were asked. About two-thirds of the teachers that sat for the competency test, failed to score up to 75 percent. The state government afterward announced it will be terminating the appointment of the incompetent teachers. Ekwueme's archbishop denies claim government spent N1billion on his funeral. Demands proof of expenses

The Anglican Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Archbishop Emmanuel Chukwuma has reacted to the claims of Minister of labour and productivity, Chris Ngige asserting that the government has spent up to N1billion on the funeral rites of Alex Ekwueme. The former vice president was until his death a member of the diocese. Speaking during a commendation service for the late elder statesman in Enugu, the archbishop described the Federal Government’s claims as “unacceptable.” He said the Federal Government should explain “what, where and how” the N1bn was spent. Chukwuma said; “Ekwueme, being a man of accountability, the Federal Government must give account on how the N1bn was spent. “We are happy that the government is giving him a befitting burial, but one thing is that people should emulate the legacies he left behind. “It is not good to say all sorts of things without emulating the legacies he left behind.”

Interesting argument between Two Nigerians on Twitter regarding Fulani herdsmen and Igbo business men

A northerner in support of ranching; to give Fulani herdsmen freedom for their cattle to graze in any state in the country, argued that Fulani herdsmen who go to the South in search of food for their cattle are no different from Igbos who go to the north for business.
