3 APC council chairmen die in Saudi Arabia car crash

Today, the Hajj Commission in Zamfara confirmed the death of three local government chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the state in an auto crash in Saudi Arabia. The Public Relations Officer of the commission, Malam Yakub-Yahaya Talata-Mafara, confirmed the death to the News Agency of Nigeria saying the accident occurred around 3.00a.m on Friday, while they were travelling from Makkah to Madina, Saudi Arabia. According to him, the victims are six local government chairmen of APC from the state. “Three of them died, while three others are receiving treatment at Saudi Arabia Hospital,’’ Talata-Mafara said. NSCDC arrest 5 suspected rapists In Adamawa State

The Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has confirmed the arrest of five suspects who specialize in luring and raping teenagers in Mubi town in the state. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Baba confirmed the arrest of the suspects on Monday in Yola saying that the suspects were apprehended following a tip-off that led to the arrest of one of them whose confession and that of their four victims ranging between the ages of 12 and 10 were used to fish out the rest. Baba said medical reports confirmed that the minors had been violated. “We are taking the suspects to court and they will be charged with rape, criminal force and assault on minors,” Baba said. While noting that the victims were girl hawkers, Baba cautioned parents on sending their little children to hawk instead of school. “Parents need to be vigilant o n the movement of their wards if we must tackle this problem,” Baba said. ...

Man hacked to death by cultists following argument during a football match in Ogun state (graphic photos)

A young man was hacked to death by machete-wielding cultists yesterday in Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State. The violent incident took place on Sunday evening after an argument broke out during a football match at a Primary School in Oke-Agbo, Ijebu-Igbo. Some young men were playing football on the primary school field when a number of them got into an argument which soon turned violent. The young men fled in different directions but the victim was chased by cultists suspected to be members of Eiye Confraternity and he was hacked to death when they caught up with him. Court sends alleged husband killer, Maryam Sanda back to prison, denies her bail

Justice Yusuf Halilu of the Federal High Court, Abuja has denied Maryam Sanda, the woman who allegedly killed her husband, Bilyaminu Bello, bail. Maryam, her mum Maimuna Sanda, her brother and one other person, were arraigned before the court today. Delivering judgment on her bail application, Justice Halilu said Maryam's counsel, Joseph Daudu, did not provide cogent reasons for him to grant her bail. The presiding judge said that Daudu had attached a medical report and requested for bail based on the health status of Mrs Sanda but that he did not prove to the court that the sickness cannot be treated in a detention facility. Justice Halilu held that the fact that she is a nursing mother is not a general principle for granting bail, hence her denial of it.
